Helping to build better mental health services since 2011
Based in Melbourne, Redpanther work with health agencies and not-for-profits across Australia and New Zealand, to help build better mental health services. In all our work we draw on a mix of extensive professional and lived experience in mental health.
Our bread and butter is program evaluation, community consultation, and service design. We help services better understand the communities they serve, by increasing their capacity to engage meaningful lived experience input through:
Lived experience led program evaluation
Co-design and ‘human-centred’ service design
Innovative community building and online engagement
Set up and growth of peer support services
We specialise in peer work and lived experience engagement, across mental health, AOD, justice and employment settings.
Over a decade and a half, Director Graham Panther has helped build some of the most innovative peer-based mental health services in Australia and New Zealand, as well as co-founding mental health start up The Big Feels Club, a global peer support network that has reached over 1 million people in distress. Our consultants bring a diverse range of professional expertise to each project we take on, including program evaluation, service delivery and set up, and valuable experience from other sectors such as marketing and the start up sector. All of our consultants also bring first-hand lived experience of accessing mental health services.

What We Do
PROGRAM EVALUATION
Measure the real impact of your initiative, and embed evaluative learning at every stage of service design and review. We take a participatory approach to evaluation, involving decision-makers, on-the-ground staff, and service users in the design and delivery of the evaluation itself. Because evaluation data is only useful if it’s actionable and relevant.
Co-design and community consultation
We believe that when it comes to mental health, no one has all the answers, so it helps to share what we know. Over years of working in service and system design, we have developed a suite of tools for meaningfully engaging service users and other key stakeholders in the service design process. The goal? Services that work better for everyone.
SUpporting the peer workforce
Having set up and evaluated dozens of peer services across Australia and NZ, we’ve learned a thing or two about how to support a thriving peer workforce. We support agencies at every stage of the journey of growing a peer workforce - from set up and recruitment, training peers and managers, and evaluating peer service outcomes.
